Vector Graphics
Creating vector graphics posed an interesting and unique challenge. Unlike what I was expecting, creating vector graphics is almost nothing like creating bitmap images. Sure they share some similarities, but they are few and far between. In vector graphics it is less like creating art from sketches, and more like creating art from polygons and shapes. You continuously add them and stack them on top of each other to yield the desired result. If you go to my reflections page and take a look at the vector graphic I created for the game "Star Citizen," you may be able to piece together the techniques I used to create the image. In conclusion it was a strange experience given I had to re-learn how to draw in a program. However I am glad that is gave me the skills to draw in Illustrator. So that in the future I may continue to utilize vector graphics and improve my art.,
Artistic Techniques
In this unit we went over the fundamental techniques of creating composition art. These techniques include, but aren't limited to: composition, repetition, alignment, perspective, etc. There are some other techniques we learned such as rule of thirds that helps us to make clean, natural looking art that doesn't seemed forced or empty. The basics of these techniques were quite simple, however it did become challenging to create art the more techniques I started to implement all at once. However the more techniques you use, the more the art seems to pop, and really seem like a special piece. So in conclusion this unit taught me some very important lessons on the fundamentals of artistic techniques, and how to implement them into my art to improve my skill, and make my products all the more unique.
Unit 2 Honors Summary
This unit was all about experimenting with the graphic editing program known as: photoshop. In this unit we learned how to use a multitude of useful tools including: masking, layer editing, Image transformation/manipulation, etc. The project I found to be the most beneficial to my education was the composite image. It challenged what I had learned thus far about the usage of photoshop and forced me to learn new tool and techniques in order to achieve the look I was going for. The project also taught me the basics of generating perspective through the transformation of simple textures. It was not an easy project by any means. Creating dimension and 3 dimensions in a 2D plain is very difficult and I am grateful for the growth in my knowledge I was forced to gain throughout this project.
